Southern Winds Estate Farm

Mims, Fl.
OUR MISSION: Southern Winds Estate Farm is a private estate dedicated to raising farm animals with disabilities, special needs, abandoned , feral, or just needing love and attention. Conserving and preserving the land and the orange orchard that was established by the original family back in the 60's. Keeping out hunters that want to destroy our natural wildlife from right under our noses. We want you to take this journey with us and to share with you pictures of our experiences, our special animals and the growth of the land as is develops back into its original greatness.
ABOUT THE FOUNDERS OF
SOUTHERN WINDS ESTATE FARM
We would like to introduce ourselves, we are the proud owners of Southern Winds, WELCOME! We have decided to take a step back and embrace what some people would call a more simple way of life. On the contrary, building, working, and living on a farm is a lot of work. We are continuously taking in Farm animals with "special needs", unwanted or simply can no longer be cared for. Our first adopted baby was a completely blind male Pekin duck "Klunk" and a Chinese goose "Beaker" that was born with a broken neck and our one eyed cat named Dunkin. We really enjoy being able to give these animals the extra special care that they need.
We have been adding more varieties of citrus trees to our orange orchard as well as some others. We currently have Navel, Sour, Calamondin, different variety of Lemons, also Olives, Plums, Blueberries, Blackberries and many more. We also have been working on an herb garden and a vegetable garden.
We also make Farm Fresh Products such as Soaps, Lotions, Bath Salts, Candles, Body and Room Sprays and Eggs from our hens and ducks. All sales go back to the farm not our pockets.
We will always be updating pictures so please check in to see what's new. If you would like to contact us please feel free to drop us an email. If you are interested in making a DONATION to the farm you can do that at: paypal.me/SouthernWindsFarm
Some call it the middle of nowhere.
I call it the center of my world.

THE STORY OF KLUNK
One day we stopped at our local feed store to get bedding and I as always when the ducks and chickens come in had to go check them out.
I noticed that one poor baby duck was running around in circles just as happy as could be but then his siblings would come over and peck at him and at his face. I felt so bad for him and then noticed he had NO eyes. I asked one of the store helpers about him, they told me I could just have him if I could give him a good home. SO I DID! He needed some extra love and attention, being blind his equilibrium is off so he spins around in circles most of the time. Needless to say he lived at the foot of our bed for the 1st couple of months.
This little guy has brought so much joy to my life, he is now an adult and now has a big boy play pen that he shares with 2 other friends and is very content..
THE STORY OF BEAKER
This baby was also given to us when she was just 2 day's old. She was having problems getting her head in the feed trough and the owner thought she might also be blind. Well of course we could not say no to this little one so we took her home. Right away we could tell she could see just fine she actually has a broken neck. We tried moving back into place, gave her daily massages but it just wouldn't go back into place. She is a very happy talkative goose. She is always singing and yells at you when you leave the room. She has a buddy named Ebby that is always by her side and likes to watch over her.

Our Newest Family Members
Donald
relinquished 2/13/2019
We just received a NEW baby to our Southern Winds Estate Farm family. His loving family could no longer keep him so he, as always is welcomed to the farm.

ChiChi
adopted 11/30/18
A New member to our Family/Farm as of today. He came from a very loving family however they wanted him to have more room to play and grow than what they could offer. They rescued him when he was a hatchling scared and on the side of a road alone, raised and cared for him up to this point. Now he is a permanent member of Southern Winds Estate Farm, Chi- Chi the peacock. He is very delightful to have around, and very well tempered, and sounds so cute talking to the other birds
